Went and bought a new transformer (with the same exact specifications). I checked the transformer with a voltimeter and it showed that the transformer was dead. They told me, that because we don't have the maintenance plan, it would cost $150 for the FIRST HALF HOUR and then $30some dollars for each additional FIFTEEN MINUTES!! And that does not include the parts to fix it. I called ADT to see how much it would be to have someone come out and diagnose the problem and fix it. The keypads are blank, they don't show anything, and when you press any of the buttons, nothing happens. We have had the system for about 10 years and have never had a problem with the system not working (other than having to replace the back-up battery that I bought at Radio Schack). I have an ADT Safewatch 3000 with 2 keypads, 1 motion sensor, and 4 door contacts.

The only thing I can think of is that we had a power surge and it blew the transformer and the motherboard. I did test the battery and it was giving me 13.4 volts and the fuse on the PC board is ok. Its my understanding that I don't need the back-up battery connected to power up the system if the AC is working properly. So I tested the power coming off of the #1 and #2 terminals an got the same reading that I got coming off the terminals of the transformer, so I know that there isnt a broken wire between the transfomer and the control panel.
